Job summary: 

The Maintenance Technician is a seasoned, mechanically skilled professional responsible for maintaining facility infrastructure, materialhandling equipment (MHE), and critical building systems. This role performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, safety compliance tasks, and OSHAaligned facility upkeep. The technician supports warehouse operations by ensuring equipment reliability, safe working conditions, and rapid response to mechanical or facility issues. This position requires a highly mechanically inclined, experienced MHE operator with strong problemsolving ability and independent task execution. 

 

Primary responsibilities:  

  • Serve as the primary MHE technical resource for forklifts, pallet jacks, dock equipment, mechanical, and safety systems   
  • Ensure OSHAaligned facility safety, documentation, and hazard mitigation 
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on facility systems, equipment, and building infrastructure. 
  • Troubleshoot and repair minor electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC-related issues, scheduling contractor service when required. 
  • Maintain interior and exterior building conditions, including lighting, dock doors, flooring, pallet racking, and safety equipment. 
  • Perform minor carpentry, painting, and assembly work. scheduling contractor service when required 
  • Perform general warehouse labor including moving boxes, staging materials, and assisting with inbound/outbound tasks 
  • Maintain facility cleanliness: sweeping, trash removal, organizing work areas, and supporting housekeeping standards 
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely (Instructor Operator Level). 
  • Assist with rearranging racks, shelving, and equipment as needed 
  • Support special projects, facility improvements, and adhoc tasks assigned by leadership 
  • Conduct basic inspections of equipment and report issues 
  • Help keep tools, supplies, and workstations organized and stocked 

 

Required competencies, knowledge, skills, and abilities: 

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with proven experience diagnosing and repairing facility and MHE systems   
  • Ability to interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and maintenance documentation   
  • Demonstrated OSHA awareness and ability to identify unsafe conditions 
  • Skilled in safe use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. 
  • Understanding of warehouse operations, facility systems, and safety requirements. 
  • Ability to follow maintenance procedures, technical diagrams, and repair standards. 
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and documentation. 
  • Effective communication and independent task management. 
  • Basic computer proficiency for work orders, logs, and reporting. 

 

Preferred education, competencies, knowledge, skills, and abilities: 

  • 3+ years of handson facility maintenance or industrial mechanical experience   
  • Experience servicing forklifts, dock equipment, conveyors, or warehouse MHE 
  • Associate’s degree in related area or equivalent combination of education and experience– High school diploma or GED. 
  • 1–3 years of facilities, warehouse, or maintenance technician experience. 
  • Experience with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical systems. 
  • OSHA-10 certification.

  • Ability to safely perform mechanical repairs at heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces   
  • Ability to work in cooler/freezer environments during equipment service 
  • Visual acuity to inspect equipment and facility components. 
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs regularly. 
  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and reaching. 
  • Work performed in climate-controlled warehouse with periodic cooler/freezer and outdoor tasks. 
  • Regular use of tools, ladders, and material-handling equipment.
