Staff Accountant II
Job summary:
Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for coordinating approval of accounts payable invoices and reviewing for appropriate taxability and general ledger coding. This position also performs a variety of other general accounting functions.
Location: Tempe, AZ
Primary responsibilities:
- Month-end closing, balance sheet reconciliations, ad-hoc reporting, audit assistance and governmental reporting
- Provide direction and establish priorities for other staff as appointed
- Reviews coding and ensures proper approval on accounts payable invoices
- Collects, analyzes, and records fixed assets, and prepares depreciation and other fixed asset schedules
- Coordinates physical inventory counts
- Reviews detailed transactions and tracks, calculates, and records various tax accruals including property, sales/use, and excise taxes
- Prepares and files state annual reports, property taxes, etc.
- Reconciles subsidiary leger to general ledger and prepares adjustments
- Prepares journal entries for monthly closings
- Participates in system updates
- Train associates as directed
- Deliver quality customer service to all team members, customers, and stakeholders
- Perform all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations
- Bring any compliance issues to the attention of management

Required certifications, licenses, education, and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Five years accounting experience required
Preferred education, competencies, knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree
- SAP Experience
