Director, Pricing and Margin Analytics
Job summary
The Director of Pricing and Margin Analytics will lead advancements in price modeling, margin optimization, and pricing improvements across our specialty pharmaceutical distribution business. This is a highly visible role, working across BioCare’s commercial and finance teams, that combines technical depth with strategic influence.
The Director will work directly with senior stakeholders to shape pricing models and deal structures that drive profitability, using data and financial acumen to guide decisions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate has a strong command of Excel-based modeling, experience in pharmaceutical distribution pricing, and a talent for cross-functional business partnership, team development, and strong communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Design pricing strategies that align with financial targets and market conditions, including RFPs, customer deals, and manufacturer contract economics collaborating across the company including sales, operations, trade, legal, and other stakeholder areas.
- Build and maintain advanced Excel-based pricing models to support decision-making, sensitivity analysis, and multi-year margin forecasting.
- Conduct scenario planning and deal simulations, providing financial clarity around payment terms, contracts, discounts, and rebates
- Serve as a thought partner to Sales, Trade, and Finance, helping shape winning strategies with data-backed insights.
- Lead margin and revenue analysis down to the NDC and customer level, identifying opportunities to improve profitability or flag and improve low margin customers.
- Translate complex pricing structures into clear business cases and executive-ready narratives.
- Partner with IT and Finance to evaluate and implement an off-the-shelf pricing system—experience preferred but not required.
- Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and commitment to quality.
- Work comfortably in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, balancing strategic priorities with day-to-day execution.
- Have the potential to lead and mentor team members and help shape the pricing analytics roadmap as the team scales.
- Perform all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations.
- Bring any compliance issues to the attention of management.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
- 10 years of progressive experience in finance or pricing, some accounting experience a plus; experience working in a business unit or field-based role as a finance business partner.
- Deep experience building dynamic Excel models as business-driven tools for pricing, margin, and volume modeling.
- Proven track record of building pricing frameworks or functions from the ground up, especially in evolving or high-change environments.
- Strong collaboration and business partnership skills—ability to influence commercial teams and translate analytics into action.
- Confident operating in fast-paced, cross-functional settings where priorities shift and timelines are compressed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in or with Big 4 accounting or top-tier strategy consulting firms.
- Exposure to or implementation experience with pricing software platforms (Zilliant, Vendavo, PROS, Model N, etc.).
- Familiarity with ASP, WAC, GPO pricing, 340B, and buy-and-bill distribution models.
- Understanding of commercial ERP systems and pricing execution processes preferred.
